Dr. Pasternak graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development from Cornell University with a concentration in adolescent growth and development. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Sackler School of Medicine of Tel Aviv University, Israel and completed his residency in Adult Psychiatry at the Beth Israel Medical Center University Hospital and Manhattan campus for the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Pasternak further specialized in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine.
Dr. Pasternak is an active member of many national and international organization including the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP).

Dr. Pasternak was selected by his peers as an outstanding practicing doctor in New York. After an extensive nomination and research process conducted by MSP Communications, the results were published in Super Doctors® Rising Stars℠, a special advertising section in the May 2018 issue of The New York Times Magazine.
During his fellowship Dr. Pasternak was honored with the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Educational Award at the 2011 AACAP Meeting in Toronto, Canada.
